FRESHMAN CLASS
Our history as a class began in the autumn of 1936. When about twenty-two students entered Nine "B". We remember our first few days in high school as "Greenhorns", but we were soon overcome by the Black Star School Spirit, for this spirit was very contagious. This Freashman year was expecially interesting to us, a fact which was due largely to the credit of our enthusiastic English teacher, Miss Carroll, who worked with us faithfully. We felt very proud of ourselvs as Freshmen until we "hit" Alegbra. Then we wished Alegbra had never been invented. We are members of one brotherhood, bound together by a common purpose and enthusiasm. We students of the Freshman Class realize that we are far from the top yet, but we hope to keep climbing higher and live up to our motto: "EFFORT BRINGS SUCCESS".
